Five things that can make a website work brilliantly for your brand!

The last time we heard, the total number of websites had exceeded one billion websites. Insane but true! That number is phenomenal, it is intimidating and challenging, too as it means the market is saturated and it will take more effort to rank and stand out against your competitors.

Back in the year 2000 (sounds like a movie saying that our loud) when I worked at VestGuard UK, a body armour company in the UK, we had barely any competition.  Ranking on page 1 was easy.  If I go back even further than that to 96 when I was in college all it took to rank for SEO was to stuff a page full of keywords.  Blinking gifs were the norm and flash was looking like the best thing since sliced bread.  How the web has changed! If you are an entrepreneur who is starting a new business, just stop for a second and digest that number, 1 billion in case you have forgotten.  Then ask yourself this. If there are that many websites how many of those would qualify to be exceptional?  Take a moment to recall the last website that you have visited which you found fantastic. What were the factors that contributed in making it leave a lasting imprint on your memory? Lastly and most importantly, wouldn’t you want your consumers to mention your website as one of the very few ones that they remember? If your answer is yes, then we would be happy to share with you some factors that can help make your website leave a lasting impression. Why should you take our word, you ask? Well, we are a trusted web design services company in Calgary and we have a wide clientele comprising entrepreneurs like you.   We are a bunch of entrepreneurs ourselves and we understand the needs and challenges faced each day to build a sustainable brand.

Adherence to the brand personality

If what your brand stands for isn’t reflected in your website then chances are very slim that it will leave a mark. Even if the design element is great, consumers might remember it for aesthetics but there would be very little to no connection at all with your brand. Long story short, your brand will be lost in that sea of 1 billion websites. So, always make sure that the website you create for your brand is in alignment with your brand personality, colours and ethos.

Continuing the tone of voice specific to your brand

Every brand speaks to its consumers in a certain way. This special way plays an important role in brand recall. Your website needs to maintain this tone. If you are funny and whacky then be funny and whacky throughout. Don’t change to a serious tone lest it might weaken the brand recall in the minds of your consumers. Also, make sure you SEO your websites content correctly.  We are one of the leading SEO content providers in Calgary and we know exactly how crucial it is to your brand to get your content in places it will be found.

Have you ever heard the saying “Does a tree make a sound when it falls in the woods if no one is around?”  Well that applies to your website.

You can have the most aesthetic looking site in the world but if no one can find it its appearance means very little if you have no traffic to your site.

Simple yet intelligent navigation

Nobody likes complications. This holds true for consumers, too!
Whilst running a tactical firearms course in Geneva, Switzerland, again coming back to my Vest Guard days, one of the instructors taught me the KISS approach.  Keep It Simple Stupid. That should always be applied here.

If browsing through your website is challenging then consumers will move onto another site out of those 1 billion we mentioned. You should have no more than 2 clicks to get anywhere on your site.  3 or more and you are building a labyrinth not a maze.

Ample breathing space

If there are too many elements or visuals fighting for attention then in all probability consumers are going to lose interest. When your website is ready, ensure you analyze this aspect and put yourself in your visitors shoes. Make sure there is one stark element and one least conspicuous element on every page. Not everything can be underlined, bold or fighting for attention.  Your call to actions should always stand out.  Place these carefully as these are ultimately your money makers.

Flexible design for future changes

A website should be a dynamic platform. It is likely to change in the days to come.  No scrub that.  It SHOULD change in the days to come.  Your business will be evolving all the time therefore; it needs to have enough room for additions and alterations. As web experts, we suggest that your website be prepared for such changes. With an intuitive design and by building your website on a powerful platform such as WordPress we can help ensure your website does not stagnate and remains current.
